I first saw this kit leaked on a various websites a few month back and thought "NO WAY!". I couldn't see us having a kit with blue anywhere in it, so completed ignored it. Regardless whether this is a throwback to 1892, it just doesn't look like an LFC kit.
Having now had it confirmed as our new 3rd kit I was very surprised to say the least. As a kit I think it's very smart. As an LFC kit, I'm not sure. It has caused uproar among many LFC fans who have posted comments on Facebook & Twitter, with the main issue being their disgust at the blue trim, obviously due to Everton. The chant of "Blue & white s****!!" sprung to mind immediately as I wondered how we could shout that from the terraces anymore. Some say it's simply a marketing exercise by the club and main sponsor Standard Chartered as it closely matches their colours. This may well be the case, but as all Reds know to our cost due to the clowns who previously owned the club, football is now about business and making as much money as possible so things like this should not be surprising anymore.
What the club should have known and must already know, is how much controversy this kit would create. Is this why they went with it? I can't see this kit selling as well as the other 2, or will it? The controversy has created massive interest in it and may end up working in the clubs favour.
The most important thing is that we get back on track next season and challenge for the title. All this fuss over a kit that contains a bit of blue, and it's sky blue not royal blue, is pointless and irrelevant. The goal is the league and if we win the league wearing this kit next season who cares, we just need to win it again.
What do the LFC fans think of this kit?
